We would like to share a memorandum issued by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) that outlines important flexibilities of Medicare Advantage (MA) and Part D plans to waive certain requirements to help the spread of COVID-19. The flexibilities of MA and Part D plans to remove barriers that could prevent or delay beneficiaries from receiving care include:
- Waiving prescription refill limits
- Removing prior authorization requirements
- Relaxing restrictions on home and mail delivery of prescription drugs
- Waiving cost-sharing for COVID-19 tests
- Waiving cost-sharing for COVID-19 treatments in doctors’ offices or emergency rooms and services delivered via telehealth
- Expanding access to certain telehealth services
